If you are a scrapbooker, then you know exactly what I mean when I say that if you dont control your scrapbooking supplies, then they control you! This is what typically happens when you get into scrapbooking and dont really pay attention to the mess that is accumilating. And whos to blame you. When it comes to scrapbooking, there are so many different pieces, clippings, and tools to take care of. So, lucky enough, I have been able to find some helpful tips in scrapbooking storage and tips on making an effective scrapbooking storage system.

There are plenty of reasons for proper scrapbooking storage, and my personal reason is time saving and saving myself from frustration. Nothing makes me madder then trying to find that one piece, or my special cutter, and having to dig through piles of other stuff to get to it. I like to use clear plastic bins that are clearly labeled, so that when the time comes that I do need something, I can find it. Another advantage of creating a scrapbook storage system is to save your supplies from getting damaged. You of course have natural disasters like certain pictures getting sun damaged, but then you also have every day disasters, such as kids or dogs. I know our little dog has cost us quite a bit when things get left out. She love to chew up just about anything that gets left out. By keeping everything in plastic bins, she really cant get into them.

You might also want to think about keeping our your supplies together. That way you dont have to go chasing parts or tools all around the house when it comes time to start, or continue, working on a project. I put my supplies in those plastic bins I mentioned ealier, but I was also able to put the little wheels underneath, so my scrapbooking station is mobile! Just a thought.

This will allow you to identify pretty quickly whats in each storage device. Secondly, make sure you keep your storage out of harms way. If you got kids, place it in hard to reach areas. Also, my personal favorite, if you can pull it off put wheels on the bottom of your storage system. This will make it mobile incase you need to move to another room in a hurry. I know I dont have enough space in my home to deticate just one room to crafts, so where I work on my scrapbooking changes from day to day.

So if you are looking to add a button to your page, all you have to do is type in “button” and the program will showcase all the images that you’ve tagged as “button”.

One thing you might want to consider is breaking up the full kits you download and separating the elements into their appropriate folders. Do this if you like to mix and match scrapbook elements from different packages. If you like using elements from one kit to coordinate your scrapbook design, then obviously this is not a good idea.

If you are new to digital scrapbooking, make sure you don’t miss this important step of organizing your files. Creating a bargain scrapbook does not necessarily mean creating a cheap scrapbook. Below you will find tips for scrapbooking on a budget that anyone can use. Many of the supplies below can be found in high end scrapbook stores for high end prices. Using these tips can get you the same supplies for bargain prices.

1. Non-Scrapbook Stores Consider buying some of your most commonly used items at a store other than your local scrapbook store. You’ll often find the same supplies (or better!) for significantly less. A yard of ribbon at your local scrapbook store can be twice as expensive as a yard of ribbon at your local fabric store. Dollar stores often carry pages and pages of acid-free stickers. Page protectors in all sizes can be found at office supply stores. Metal embellishments can be easily created out of clearance bin finds at the hardware store.
2. Aisle Hop at the Craft Store You don’t even have to drive all the way across town to another store. Even just hopping over a few aisles can make a difference. Check out this great discount scrapbooking supply find: At my local Hobby Lobby store, alpha-numeric rub on transfers were selling for around $2.99. Just three aisles away I found some nearly identical alpha-numeric rub on transfers for less than $1/sheet! A pack of 10 coordinating buttons in the scrapbook aisle at Michael’s can cost almost $5 depending on the brand name – a tube of over 100 buttons in the fabric aisle cost me $1.99!
3. The Clearance Aisle Bargain scrapbook shoppers everywhere are familiar with the clearance aisle. It can be a treasure trove for discount scrapbook supplies. Consider starting your scrapbook shopping at the clearance aisle; you may find some great stickers, stamps, or rub-ons before you even hit the full priced aisles.
4. Online Scrapbook Stores It can be hard to shop for scrapbook supplies online when you’re looking for a certain paper color or embellishment. After all, how do you know that the photo displayed matches the color your looking for exactly? Try checking out an online scrapbook store to find your basic scrapbook supplies at a discount. Adhesive, refills, pens, albums, scissors, tools, etc – often you can find a much better deal for these supplies online than you can at a local store. Bonus: Price comparing takes only a few clicks rather than miles of driving!
5. Around the House Most free and discount scrapbook supplies come from around the home. When you find yourself in a scrapping “slump” wander through your house. Look through old shoe boxes of memorabilia, flip through the magazines and newspapers sitting next to your armchair, scour all the little drawers in the workshop. You never know where inspiration will strike or what treasures you’ll find!
